Telecom XE2 RIM

IT software provider XE2 has acquired Leicester-based BlackBerry reseller Jem Telecom.

XE2, provider of hosted Microsoft Exchange Services, takes charge of Jem Telecom's 5,500 customer accounts and 20 reseller accounts, of which six are mobile dealers.

It also inherits Jem's RIM Alliance Partner title and will offer resellers training, support and CRM for all BlackBerry accounts.

XE2 said the deal will enable it to offer a fully-hosted service for IT and mobile 'software as a service' (SaaS).

XE2 and Jem Telecom commercial director Jason Theakston said: "The coming together of BlackBerry services with managed email hosting brings huge benefits to small and large businesses.

"Mobile resellers need to offer full mobile email, including a complete hosted solution for exchange, archiving and other products like CRM. These services will help them sustain growth."

Jem is currently in administration, fighting for money it claims it is owed by Orange. Its administrator, Businesscare Solutions, claims Orange is withholding payments of around £500,000.
